  • Arthur's Seat

    Arthur's Seat

One day I might actually take the trouble tomblike up Arthur's Seat, but up to now i've had to make do with views such as this, take from one of the cannon portals at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland, 2012.

  • North Sea at St. Andrew's

    North Sea at St. Andrew's

The North Sea coast of Scotland, and England for that matter, is a rugged one. With a very large tidal range it results in some very interesting natural and man-made coastal infrastructure. Such is the case in St. Andrew's where the impacts of the wide reach of the waves on the coastal cliffs are seen. 2012.

  • Calton Hill

    Calton Hill

It was cold up here....So cold. And I actually crept around an otherwise no-go area to get into position for this shot. Calton Hill, looking out over Edinburgh from the east is always lit up at night like this in the winter, but i loved the way the search lights swept across the skyline, and i felt lucky to get this particular shot, December 2014, Scotland.

  • Princess Street

    Princess Street

Something of an iconic view of Edinburgh, and an oft-photographed scene. This is a night shot looking down towards Princess Street on a very cold night at up at Calton Hill. 2014

  • Adam Smith

    Adam Smith

A weather stained statue of Adam Smith, a pioneer of Scottish Enlightenment, seen in the Royal Mile, Edinburgh, 2014

  • Princess Street Gardens

    Princess Street Gardens

Some people hate these annual intrusions into Princess Street Gardens, and some people hate them, but you can't argue to that they light up the Edinburgh City Center landscape, and that they do increase the Christmas feel to the place. 2014

  • Edinburgh Castle

    Edinburgh Castle

Difficult to get a good clean shot of Edinburgh Castle during the day, due to the tourists, which included myself. So, I went for a black and white shot, This is also the site of the Tattoo, December 2014

  • Princess Street Gardens Lawn

    Princess Street Gardens Lawn

A lush looking lawn in the Princess Street Gardens in Edinburgh. This place looks just so much different from a typical scene in mid-December, so much more tranquil and calming here. 2012

  • Edinburgh Castle Sunset

    Edinburgh Castle Sunset

Taken from the roof of Camera Obscura, this is a view of the famous Edinburgh Castle, at the head of the Royal Mile. Sunset on a very cold day at Christmas in 2014.

  • Edinburgh Castle Architecture

    Edinburgh Castle Architecture

Love taking shots of random, obscure, doorways. This studded example in Edinburgh Castle made me wonder what may have been hidden behind it in less hospitable times. May, 2012.

  • The Portcullis

    The Portcullis

This is the Portcullis guarding the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. Difficult to get a shot of this without the mass of tourists, but then, I was a tourist myself. 2014.

  • The Royal Mile

    The Royal Mile

The famous Royal Mile, in the city centre of Edinburgh, leading down from the castle at the top of the hill. This part of the cities very popular with tourists, with its cobbled streets and vibrant fringe festival acts. 2014.

  • South Queensferry Pub

    South Queensferry Pub

Got some amount of grief from the "patrons" of this South Queensferry pub as I Iined up this long exposure; all part of the game I guess. Scotland, 2018.

  • Cockburn Street

    Cockburn Street

As best a view one get get of Cockburn Street, absent the cars that can sometimes spoil these low perspective views. Edinburgh, Scotland.

  • Cockburn Street

    Cockburn Street

This is one of the most photographed streets in Edinburgh; the cobbled surface arcing down the hill, and the glowing lights set against the fading evening light. It’s all a photographer needs, except for the parked cars.

  • Greyfriars Bobby

    Greyfriars Bobby

The Greyfriars Bobby pub, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

  • Greyfriars Kirk

    Greyfriars Kirk

The Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland. Home of the grave of Greyfriars Bobby.

  • Azuma

    Azuma

A brand new Azuma high speed train, stabled at Edinburgh Waverly awaiting a return south to London.

  • Edinburgh Waverly

    Edinburgh Waverly

A Class 385 electric unit snakes out of Edinburgh Waverly towards Princess Street Gardens with an express to Glasgow.
