China

Traveling through China

My three weeks spent in China was an experience of a life time, even if a little grueling at times. We experienced the highs of luxurious accommodations and transport in Hong Kong, to the relative indignity of balancing my suitcase on my knees in the back of an old saloon car on the Tibetan Plateau; and the joys of a magical cruise through along the Yangzi River in the Three Gorges, to the discomfort of touring the poverty stricken schools and backstreets of Wanzhou. We witnessed modern marvels in Beijing, evidence of mass migration above raising water level on the Yangzi, wet markets in Lijiang, and the timeless landscapes of the Jade Dragon Glacier and the Tiger Leaping Gorge. It was a trip for the ages, and one that I experienced at the very outset of my photography education  - so much so that I still enjoy editing images of this China trip fourteen years later.
