Mardi Gras in New Orleans is the single greatest experience I have had since moving the the USA IN 2007. I lived in New Orleans for five full years and experienced six carnival seasons. My experiences were varied, but habits began to form through those five years. I would watch the vibrant Muses, Tucks, and Iris parades from St. Charles Avenue near Fat Harry’s bar. Mardi Gras weekend for me would involve a wander around the pre-parade area of De’Tat, and a Thoth street party at our house on the corner of Henry Clay and Magazine. Mardi Gras day was generally spent watching Rex and Zulu towards downtown, with an obligatory walk around the French Quarter. These images represent the best of my five year’s experience.
