France

Dunkirk

I’ve been to France, but twice. An unexpected layover in Paris after my inbound flight was delayed, and a much more deliberate day out on the coast in Dunkirk. Both were enjoyable, but only the Dunkirk trip bore any photographs. It was a day out from London, alighting the Eurostar at Calais, where upon a tour guide picked us up before dropping us off at the ferry terminal for a brief voyage to Dover. Dunkirk was interesting, with much of the trip spent wandering around movie-set locations / turned tourist attractions. It is a nice spot on the coast, though – big wide beaches, with plenty of tourist amenities on the shoreward promenade – very much like other North Sea coast resorts, except for the thick French accents (which were a joy to hear).
